Conversion Metrics Now Available For Assets

I was always so confused when trying to analyse asset performance for Performance Max campaigns, so it’s about time (and also very welcome) to now be able to understand performance of each individual asset instead of making assumptions based on a seemingly arbitrary performance rating of ‘good’ or ‘low’, etc.

How do I see conversion metrics for assets?

To see an overview:

  1. Navigate to Assets > Assets

  2. Select ‘Assets’ in the ‘Table View’ drop-down (this defaults to ‘Associations’)

  3. Select ‘Performance Max’ in the ‘Campaign Type’ drop-down

  4. Add any additional relevant columns

To see performance broken down by Asset Group:

  1. Navigate to Campaigns > Asset Groups

  2. ‘View Details’ of individual Asset Group

  3. Add any additional relevant columns

What are the limitations of this reporting view?

  • Conversion metrics are only available from 18 July 2024

  • Limited metrics: the available conversion metrics are conversions, conversion value, and value/conv. This view is missing important metrics such as cost per conversion, and conversion rate. This must be because an ad is made up of multiple assets, but I feel if you can attribute conversions to a single asset, then surely you should be able to attribute clicks and cost as well(?)

  • Limited Segmentation: on the Assets view, there is no option to segment by Asset Group, which would be easy to see where the Asset was best performing across the Groups.
